This is pretty much the story of my life every time I try to draw Stella’s pentagram necklace. Thank you xkcd!

Chapter 3 Title Page: Harunobu Inspiration

Here’s the title page for Chapter 3!

In the main pages of Summoned Creature, I have to draw Stella in the same outfit over and over again, so it’s fun to take her to a different time and place in these splash pages. It’s funny to think that even though I’ve been drawing issues one and two all year, from Stella’s perspective, it’s only been one day! Well it’s been a long day, and it’s not over yet.

Here is the 16th century Suzuki Harunobu print that inspired the image for Chapter three. It’s titled ‘Winter Stroll’

4 new pages, the beginning of chapter 3!

Clearprint Vellum

I love this stuff. It’s just the right amount of tough and see-through, and it has a special way of not letting ink and marker soak into it. When I first started drawing Summoned Creature, I ordered 300 sheets from a drafting supply website. I wonder if I’ll ever use up the entire ream?

Also, apparently you can fold it up and serve food in it! That’s just how awesome it is!

Weekend Update

Ok, in the interests of getting on board with this whole interweb-bloggy-tumblrz thing, I’m going to try to post something semi-interesting at least once a week. Weekend tumblr time! It’s challenging for me because the internet makes me shy. I know there’s a lot of shy people who feel brave on the internet, but I’m totally the opposite. Be kind to me, internet!
